3ft and cranking…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Sometimes it just all comes together. The sun is out, there’s a fresh SE wind and the surf is 3ft and pumping, with the whole of North Coast firing. Can see this place being a bit thin on the ground this afternoon - make up for those dark winter days! Looking good for tomorrow and Sunday (bit smaller) - still with sun out - so hope you all have a good one.

Someone throw this man a bone

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

We locked up with Ian Battrick about 10 months ago and in that time, he’s managed two covers for us, coverage in another handful of mags both European and Stateside, video footage of some of the deepest barrels a Finisterre sticker has ever seen and discovery of some of the most remote coldwater waves on the planet.

We don’t know what to say really, the guy does it relentlessly, a true professional and an amazing mate. Below is a collage of Ian’s exploits over the last ten months, we’ve been here for over seven years, we get the coverage game and he’s easily been one of the most highly profiled European surfers, over the last 10 months - amazing.

Ian, all on this end are fueled every day homie!

Polzeath has opened up its arms

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Surf’s Up is one of the most successful surf schools in Europe. They’ve managed to build a brilliant school off outstanding customer relations and even more, the expertise of their staff and energy that comes from the two who created it over 15 years ago - Pete and Jane Craske.

With the Surf School in solid ground, they’ve branched out and have launched their own - Surf’s Up Surf Shop. The shops got exclusive boards, wetsuits, accessories and a fly set-up.

We were stoked when they approached us a few months back to get on board with product. So we’re in Polzeath, we can’t wait to get things moving and so if your in the area, you’ve now got another exclusive outlet to try on Fnisterre product.

Young gun on the move

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Trev Garland is one of the newest additions to the Product Tester Program. He’s probably one of the most underrated, young talents within the competitve long boarding scene.

His style is quiet and humble, he shows up to comps, straps on his gear, waits patiently, paddles out, get the highest scores in the heat, collects his winnings and walks off quietly in the distance.

We like his approach, we love humility and he’s an ace guy to get behind.

Stoked to have you on board Trev and wicked news on your past results - that’s how we roll.

Man of the Cliffs

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

John MacCarthy has been a part of Finisterre for a few years now. He’s a man who’s pioneered a special big wave spot in Ireland, runs one of the most successful surf schools in Europe and has a load of love and respect for the man upstairs. We’ve been inspired by him for years and every so often he fires us up with the odd image.

Two of his most recent images:

Last month Christiaan Bailey opened the doors of Surf Screen and premiered the Present - Thomas Campbell’s latest new surf adventure, since the release of Sprout . We were there to support Christiaan, follow the solid crowd and get stuck into some hooting and hollering in a packed-out cinema in St. Ives.

The event was epic, really brought out a solid crew and the screening continues over the next couple of months - throughout the UK. Checkout the link below to se whether the next screening is in a village near you.

Recon trip, location: Arctic

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

The dynamic duo are at it once again. Like a couple of cowboys, Tim Nunn and Ian Battrick are back at it, trailblazing a few places in the Arctic. They managed to stumble across a few breaks, scored some surf and were kept dry and warm in the gear.

Cheers for the images boys!

Fresh from the SAS campaign trail…

Friday, May 1st, 2009

The boys and girls over the way at SAS know all about slogging out their campaigns to get their message home, and they do an awesome job. Came in early this morning and got an email from Hugo and Andy who are up in Thurso. They are running a campaign on beach litter to coincide with the Highland Open - they sound fired up about the whole trip. Have a look petition link and sign up. Think the surf today up there should be pumping, so no doubt they’ll be filling us in on the latest… go boys.

Hello darlings!

A quick report from Thurso. Brimms is pumping at head high + and perfect but loads of pros on it all the time. I’ll email some photos. It’s sick. So many coves, beaches, set ups - it’s mental up here. Desolate and rugged. And beautiful and breathtaking in areas. We’ve not had time to surf yet but have a mean left hander rivermouth we’ll be sampling at first light tomorrow. Sweet. Went there today and it was tiny and perfect but tomorrow with the forecast size it’ll be epic……..

Campaign actions going great - new Downing Street up and running - see attached press shots and press release - if you wanna pass it on, wicked, and make sure you sign up! Check out the video on our Facebook page:
