We got this email through this week from our Friend at Wavelength Tim Nunn…
Hi guys,
just been on a mental mission for a new wave somewhere in the North Sea, air temps were below zero all day with heavy snow the night before, we almost didn’t make the coast, took us two hours to make the last 18 miles. Needless to say the jacket was insane and i wouldn’t have kept warm enough without it!
cheers guys
Tim

We pride ourselves on our customer service, being a small company means this is an area we can really concentrate on, create relationships with our customers, and generally take a lot of time and effort making sure we get it right.
So this week I had a nice little surprise in the post, when Ben from Cheshire decided to say thanks by sending a huge lump of Italy’s finest 2 year old Parmesan cheese for going back and forth making sure he got exactly what he wanted.
He pointed out that trust goes a long way in these days of faceless call centre’s and fluffy marketing speak. So thanks Ben, and anyone else who wishes to send me a grater please do.

Hey Tom and all at Wheal Kitty,
Cheers for yours, the kit is going great. We followed a pod of Orca for over 18 hours and 75 nautical miles a couple of days ago, I was standing on the wheelhouse roof the entire time and just wearing a base layer, the Merino hoody, the down jacket and Storm Jacket - which is impressive when you think how very cold it is down here!
You really would not believe the enormity of this place. All sense of scale goes out of the window. Imagine turning Pentire Point into ice and floating it out to sea and you have a reasonable size iceberg, although we are seeing much bigger!
Getting some lovely film and stills images, can’t send you any pics unfortunately as the yacht email cannot handle anything more than text. Looking forward to showing you some pics on our return though. We will start filming leopard seals in a couple of days and I am looking forward to getting in the water with those big fellas, will let you know how it goes.
Cheers for now,
Jonathan.

Made it out of the water late last night. Was pretty cold when I got out, but the bank that I had been surfing was absolutely firing. Walling right-handers all the way to the beach - 2-3ft and clean as it gets. When I first got in, you could even feel the warmth in the sun and see the sunlight through each lip. We are the right side of the year and each day is getting longer. Back in the car park and hands too cold to turn the key in the ignition…
Looking good for the weekend….

With the help of the DTI, we went over to California to check out a trade show – there has been some interest in what we are doing from across the pond. The show itself was a zoo, but there were some good things from the quick trip.
These were the best bits:
-Meeting up with Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and talking through some ideas
-The Toyota Prius that we hired – 60mpg – 600 miles and £25 of petrol (or gas)
-The Mexican food (enschilades, refried beans & avocado salad)
-Surfing Blacks beach with pelicans and dolphins
-Meeting Greg Noll (and he is as a big a bloke as he looks in Riding Giants) – see below

I know this happened a few weeks back, but the footage below is definitely food for thought when are kicking back having a drink or getting stuck into the swell over the weekend - (Sunday looking like a great day by the way – 3-4ft and clean for the North Coast).
I think the footage of this place makes it look like one of the most unfriendly spots I have ever seen. There are some good shots of Carlos taking a few bombs, but the day was also a sad one, claiming one life.

Is there a retailer near me where I can buy Finisterre product?
This has been the most frequent question we’ve been asked over the last few months. So now we’re asking you, our customers, to let us know which retailers that they would like to see Finisterre represented in.
Simply find the retailer you think we would do well in and tell them what we’re about (our catalogue is available here).
If they like what they see, give us their contact details and if it’s a match made in heaven, we’ll send you a £50 gift certificate.
Email suggestions to - Ernie@finisterreuk.com
Thanks.

So for all those of you who have been waiting patiently, thank you and you can nor grab one. Feel free to give us a call on 01872 554481 if you want to get one before they sell out again..( Posted by Stevo )

Scattered amongst all the invoices and offers of enhancement, I was stoked to get this email from Doug and John (aka BBC crack underwater unit), filming for the next Blue Planet series. They are putting some of our kit through some heavy field testing….
Message: Update from Down South
Hey Guys,
We have arrived! We hit the Antarctic Peninsula eight days ago after a week at sea, there certainly are some impressive seas in the Drakes Passage - you would love it!
I had expected the Antarctic continent to be impressive but it has far exceeded any of my expectations. It really is an incredibly beautiful place. Huge mountain ranges jutting straight out of the sea, massive icebergs of infinite shapes and sizes, whales blowing and fluking in ever direction - mind blowing stuff.
Doug and I have been getting in the water a fair bit and filming seals under ice. The water is a toasty minus 1.8C, and you thought that the Cornish winter was chilly! Our quest for Orca has now taken us deep into the Antarctic circle and the search continues..
Will keep you updated,
Doug and John.
