Friday, June 29th, 2007

We were checking our database sign-ups yesterday.

One guy called Mr. Test had signed up.

Looked into it a bit further, and these were the details entered

first name - test
last name - test
Email address - testing@hotmail.com

Guess whoever it was watched the film, but are pretty sure his email won’t work.

Unless you know who Mr. Test is…?

Finisterre sponsor Arctic Challenge Team

Finisterre has teamed up with four extreme athletes taking part in the gruelling Arctic Challenge taking place 19th-28th July 2007, E Greenland.

In this 5-day no-nonsense adventure race our team will go through 250 kilometres and 10,000+ vertical metres in some of the finest and challenging landscapes on earth. Weather conditions are totally unpredictable, but are likely to be extreme varying from sub zero winds +10 deg cel days.
The Challenge encompasses four disciplines – Mountain Biking, Mountain trekking, Glacier Trekking and Icefjord paddling. Considered by some as one of few true enduro-adventure races on the planet, Team Finisterre will be putting the 07/08 product to the ultimate test. The team will also be raising money for Future Hope (www.futurehope.net) – a charity set up over eighteen years ago to provide a home, education medical aid and opportunity to some of the children of Kolkata, India, who find themselves living on the streets of the city.

Carlos Burle - Red Bull Big Wave Invitee

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Finisterre ambassador Carlos Burle has been asked again to take part in the Red Bull Big Wave Event to held at Dungeons, South Africa.

The invitee list includes 24 of the World’s best big wave surfers, and Dungeons is renowned for being a treacherous place to surf, not only because of the wide open swell window, meaning that sets often come in wide, but also because of the prevalence of Great Whites in the line-up.

The event is currently on hold, but we’ll let you know when the swell hits the 20ft+ mark and the heats begin…

Dungeons was the spot where Finisterre tester and lensman Al Mackinon took the photo of Greg Long last year and was awarded the XXL Big Wave award. We’ll be getting an in-depth account of the story behind the shot in the coming months. Below is the winning photo - let’s hope for more of the same in the next few weeks…

Watch Finisterre Documentary

Friday, June 8th, 2007

It has taken us a while, but after much demand, we have finally got the Finisterre Documentary - Beef or Salmon - available online.

This was made for the Cornish Film Fetsival and examines the trials of a small brand taking the road less trod. It also looks at the relationship between the brand and its ambassador, top ten big wave man Carlos Burle, as shot on a recent Cold Water Frontiers trip to Ireland.
